Thank You’s
We are so grateful for the kind families who made donations to the school during the holiday season. Big Acorn thanks go out to: Higeong and Martin Fernandez, Jean and Charlie Hanor, Anne and Steve Jennen, Natalie and Graham Matthews, Kristy and Les Pratt, Jamaica and Fred Saporsky, Katy and Jeffrey Shere, teacher and alumni parents Shannon and Martin Burns, Kitty and Rich Lange, and the Vaughan Foundation. We thank you all for your heartwarming support of The Acorn. We are so very appreciative! The school could never exist without your thoughtful and generous donations. Huge thanks also go out to Acorn dad Matthew West and his FASTSIGNS Northeast for our beautiful new Acorn signs on the side of the building facing Broadway and on Ave. B. What a wonderful 30th Anniversary gift to have bright, shiny new signs! We also thank Nathan Mrvichin, Jo’s son, for working so hard to revamp The Acorn’s website (theacornschool.net) and we appreciate the Jim Worth family for donating a number of nice puppets and stuffed animals for the children’s enjoyment.
We also want to thank Jamaica Saporsky who has helped for many days in the office with preliminary organization for our Fundraiser.
Parenting Class: Please turn in your enrollment form for our upcoming STEP Parenting Class, which will be held on Monday Evenings starting January 25th at 6:45 P.M. The STEP class size will be limited to the first twenty to enroll, and we do have some spaces left. Please refer to the Dec. flier for details, or call the office.

Spring Tuition Due: We’d like to remind everyone that tuition payments for the new semester covering Jan. through May are due. The following is a chart indicating the amount due for each class. If your child is enrolled in either Wed. extended day or Thurs. early session, that amount is listed separately. If you are able to pay for the entire semester now, that helps the school’s cash flow, otherwise, paying by the month is fine. Please note, we do not send out bills, so this is your official reminder of tuition due. Tuition not paid by the 10th of the month incurs a $25 late fee. For Jan., the late fee will apply on Jan. 16th. Thanks!
Spaces Available in our Lunch Bunch Sessions: If your student would like to join us, there is room in our Wed. lunch bunch for children in the 3 or 5 day morning classes. They bring a nutritious lunch and stay until 2:00. The cost for Wed. lunch bunch is $84 per month.
There is also room for our afternoon 4 day or five year old students in our early Th. Lunch. Your child can bring their lunch and arrive at 11:10 on Thurs.; the cost is $48 per month. Please give us a call in the office if you’re interested.
Weather Notes: As we are experiencing cold days, please remember to dress your child appropriately for outside play. We will spend some time on the playground, even if it is a brief period. Please remember to LABEL your child’s outer wear with their name.
Car Line: In order to keep our drop-off and pickup lines moving as smoothly as possible, please stay in your car, pulling up as far as you are able just past the gate. The teachers will greet the children at drop-off, or bring them to the first few cars in line at pickup. As those first few cars leave, please pull forward to meet your child and the teacher. Thanks!
Happy New Year!
Rich and Jo
