Fundraiser at the San Antonio Country Club

Mark your calendars for Friday evening, February 27th, 2009, for the annual Acorn Fundraiser!  The event will be held at the San Antonio Country Club, and will be a fun evening for adults, featuring wine tasting, cheese, hors d’oeuvres, coffee, and desserts. Our enticing silent auction will be available for your bidding pleasure!  Each ticket is eligible to win a prize from our attractive list of items, including restaurant certificates, overnights, sports and gift items, etc.   It’s sure to be lots of fun!

Each year we have a major fundraiser to help raise the money necessary to cover our annual operating deficit.  All of our families help us gather prizes and sell tickets, and many help us set up for the party that day.  Tickets for the event will be available for a $75 donation per person, and each ticket purchased will be eligible for our raffle drawing.   Our goal is to raise over $20,000 from ticket sales.  The top prize will be a $1,000 certificate of deposit.  We’ll have overnights at hotels on the riverwalk, in the Hill Country, and at the coast, etc., dinners at restaurants, photography packages, and much more.  We’ll also have a silent auction with class projects and lots of attractive items on which to bid.  The class projects created by the children are always highly sought after by the parents!

An information meeting for parents of 5 year old students eligible for Kindergarten next school year will be held Thursday, January 8th, at 6:45 P.M.

Current students at The Acorn will start enrolling for the 2009-10 school year on Wednesday, January 14th.  Alumni families will enroll on Tuesday, January 27th.

Enrollment for new families will be Wednesday, February 4th.  Appointments will be made throughout the day, based on a person’s date of first contact with the school.  Parents must attend a tour of the school and complete an application for each child before they are eligible to enroll.  Our last tour before enrollment is Saturday, January 24th, at 10:00 A.M. Tours are for parents only - no children.  Please call to confirm if you plan to attend.

First tuition payment for 2009-10 is due by July 15th.  Available spaces will be filled from waiting lists near the end of July.  Classes begin after Labor Day on Tuesday, September 8th.

It is a requirement for interested parents to attend a tour of the school before they are eligible to enroll.  The Fall tour of the school will be held this Saturday, November 1st, at 10:00 A.M.  Please call 210-826-8804 to confirm your spot on the tour.  Please plan on arriving about 10 minutes early, so you can get parked and browse through the classrooms a bit before we get started.  The tour will start promptly at 10:00, and will last approximately  1 1/2 hours.  It is for adults only.

There will be one more tour in late January or early February before enrollment for the 2009-10 school year.
